Drainage of the Royal Thai Airforce Base

Don Mueang International Airport is located north of the centre of Bangkok. It is one of the oldest international airports in the world and today functions as a military and commercial airport. Don Muang Royal Thai Air Force Base, which is the main operating and command base of the Royal Thai Air Force (RTAF), is located here. Safe drainage is ensured by a channel system that can withstand the enormous loads imposed by military and civil aircraft.

Drainage solution for the hangars

Three large hangars for the Royal Thai Airforce, each with an area of 5,000 square metres, were to be drained with a modular trench system installed across the doors. The channels not only have to withstand the high wheel loads and dynamic surface forces generated by aircraft that regularly pass over the system, but also need to ensure that surface water is safely drained and does not flow inside the hangar building.
